Featured Agent: Martin & Co (Ayr & Kilmarnock)
This week we’re shining the spotlight on the Ayr and Kilmarnock branch of Martin & Co. We spoke with branch owner, Kasim to find out more.
Q1. Tell us a little about yourself, your business, and what kind of properties you handle
I have been involved in the property industry for almost 20 years, firstly as an investor then moving onto building projects I have always had an interest in property and dealing with and helping people was always something that I wanted to do. We have built a successful business through providing an honest and open approach, ensuring we keep our clients up to date with their property and doing this with a personal touch. We have services to suit to an individual client. Our headline Manage and Protect Service is our most enhanced product which provides rent guarantee and legal expenses cover. We manage the full process in house.
Q2. What made you get into the property business?
It was something that I had a passion for and I wanted to invest my time in something that allowed me to see an end result, people may be looking for an additional residual income and property has always proved to be a good way of generating that. When you physically invest in a property then you have an asset value that you can keep for a rainy day.
Q3. What is your favourite property you’ve had?
It is hard to say as there have been so many, each one is unique! Picking one over the other is difficult, but we did have a lovely farm house in Ayrshire which had idyllic views and would be a great place for when you want the quieter life.
Q4. What’s the best thing about the area you operate in?
The area is so diverse, offering majestic scenery, a beach and lovely towns such as Troon. With three Open Championship golf venues it is one of Scotland’s top locations for golfers. We take on many different types of property. We could be managing an apartment overlooking the coast then the next minute we could be taking on something in a little rural village. It really makes this place unique.
Q5. What advice would you give to someone looking for a rental property?
I would say make sure you budget for everything and mange what you can afford. It is difficult to get everything you want but as an agency who covers the majority of Ayrshire we have a good understanding of what someone may be looking for.
Q7. What would be a good night out in your area?
There are some great places to go in Prestwick with some lovely little bars. There are also some great restaurants in Ayr and of course you have the beach if you are out during the day.
