Lettingweb’s Ultimate Property Feature: Exteriors
Each week we look at the best examples of property features on our site to try to determine what the Ultimate Property would look like.
We’ll find our favourite five examples of the feature on Lettingweb.com and create a shortlist from which we’ll pick the winners for the Ultimate Property.
They say an Englishman’s home is his castle, but we think that Scotland’s got some better castles than anything found south of the border. So this week, it’s the buildings themselves that get the Ultimate Property treatment.
Here are our five best house exteriors:
5. Gordon, Scottish Borders – 6 Bedrooms £1700
The Manor Estate
Coming in fifth on this week’s Ultimate Property is a real stunner in the Scottish Borders near Kelso and Galashiels. It’s a beautiful part of the country. This Manor Estate fits into its surroundings perfectly. It’s actually a Factors House and is part of the Mellerstain Estate.
The property manages to be both homely and imposing with plenty of windows to let in light. It also looks a little like a certain resort frequented by Jack Torrance, which is fitting for the Halloween season.
As well as the Manor Estate, the grounds of this property are home to a beautiful Caretakers Lodge (above). Check it out here: http://www.lettingweb.com/QK33JB (or here: http://www.lettingweb.com/lxaovu)
4. Stockbridge, Edinburgh – 3 Bedrooms £1400
The Victorian Town House
From a countryside manor to a townhouse in the middle of Scotland’s capital city, we’ve found this property in Stockbridge, which is quintessential Edinburgh. Despite its proximity to the centre of town, the house opens out onto a quiet, cobbled street in quaint Stockbridge. The area has a weekly farmers market and is bisected by the beautiful Water of Leith.
The building itself is a little different from the classic tenements of Edinburgh and Glasgow, with a little Victorian opulence added (on a much smaller scale).
It’s well worth taking a closer look at this house, and the area is a gem to visit. Enquire here: http://www.lettingweb.com/O9LKOE
3. Gargunnock, Stirlingshire – 3 Bedrooms £1200
The Actual Castle
Gargunnock seems like an appropriate place for this Grade B listed Jacobean Mansion, which has a strong castle feel to it. This duplex offers an amazing opportunity to live in grandeur, with a suite of stunning features to boot, including a wine cellar. Hang out on your own private terrace or explore the full grounds of the mansion at your leisure.
Soaked in bloody history, the building echoes the centuries during which it has stood through. The detailing is what impressed us most though; we’d never get tired of living in a house with these:

2. Charing Cross, Glasgow – 2 Bedrooms £850
The Church Conversion
Scotland’s history lends itself particularly well to converted properties, and the prevalence of churches in the cities makes for some amazing property. The second best building on the list is a stunning example of this: a truly grand church that’s home to a beautiful flat.
In between the centre of the city and the west end, this flat also combines the trendiness of Kelvingrove and the convenience of the city.
A definite must see, more details on this property are available here: http://www.lettingweb.com/VKTCYA
1. Innerleithen, Peebles – 3 Bedrooms £675
The Country Cottage
The pictures of this property are truly magnificent, and the Country Cottage certainly doesn’t put a foot out of the place. Located on the peaceful, beautiful Glen Estate, this quaint property combines stonework and painted green woodwork to stunning effect. Perfectly blending into the countryside, we think we’ve found a definite deserving winner in this property.
At £675, it’s also quite a bargain. If that wasn’t enough, the property is pet friendly, so you can bring your dog into the estate to enjoy the surroundings as well.
